Get Started in 5 Minutes
This guide covers the most common setup: Power over Ethernet + Network Video + Web Interface Control. If this matches your needs, follow the steps below and you'll have a working camera in about 5 minutes.
- PoE+ (802.3at) switch or injector
- Ethernet cable (Cat5e or better)
- A computer or device on the same network
Step 1: Connect Power and Network
- Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE+ (802.3at) switch or PoE+ injector to the camera's LAN port.
- The camera will power on automatically.
Ensure your switch or injector supports PoE+ (802.3at), not just PoE (802.3af). The Move 4K requires the higher power delivery of PoE+.
Step 2: Wait for the Camera to Boot
Once powered, the camera performs a startup sequence:
Step 3: Find the Camera on Your Network
The Move 4K supports mDNS, so you can reach it by hostname without knowing the IP address.
- Open a web browser on any device connected to the same network.
- Type the following address and press Enter:
http://ptzoptics.local/
- You will be prompted to set up a username and password on first login.
- Username: admin
- Create a strong password.
Give each camera a unique Device ID from the web interface's Device Info tab. Then reach each camera by its ID: http://camera-one.local, http://camera-two.local, etc.
Step 4: See Live Video
After logging in, you'll see the Horizon web interface with a live video preview from the camera. The camera is already streaming video over the network — no additional video cables needed.
From the web interface you can:
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| 📹 Live Preview | Preview the live video feed |
| 🎮 PTZ Control | Control pan, tilt, and zoom |
| 🎨 Image Settings | Adjust exposure, color, and focus |
| 💾 Presets | Save and recall camera positions |
| ⚙️ Network | Configure IP, ports, and streaming |
| 🤖 Automation | Manage auto-tracking and auto-framing |
The Horizon web interface requires a compatible PTZOptics camera. The Move 4K ships with Horizon pre-installed.
Step 5: Move the Camera
Use the 8-direction joystick pad in the Horizon dashboard to pan and tilt. Click and drag on the live video preview for Point/Drag mode.
Use the Zoom slider to zoom in and out. Auto Focus is enabled by default and will keep the image sharp as you move.
Use the Speed Tool (tortoise → hare) to adjust movement speed. Toward the tortoise for precise control, toward the hare for faster movement.
Step 6: Save Your First Preset
- Move the camera to the position you want to save.
- Click the Set button in the Preset Control section.
- Enter a preset number (e.g., 1) and press Enter.
- To recall the preset, click Call and enter the number, or click a numbered button (1–10).
A preset saves both the camera position and all image settings. Calling a preset restores both.
You're Done
Your Move 4K is now connected, streaming video over the network, and controllable from the web interface. You can:
- Save more presets for different positions
- Adjust image settings for your lighting conditions
- Enable auto-tracking from the Automation panel
- Configure streaming (RTSP, RTMP, NDI|HX) from the Audio & Video settings
